We need dedicated adults to help offer adventure and education for young people. If you can commit 12 - 14 hours per month, you can make a difference in the lives of many kids, and help shape a better world for tomorrow. It's easy, it's interesting and it's fun!!!

A variety of opportunities exist for those interested in volunteering their time and energy in support of Scouting's programs:

As Leaders (18+)
As Leaders-In-Training (aged 16-17) and Activity Leaders (aged 14-15)
As local Group Committee Members
As Service Team Members

As a Scouting volunteer, you must be prepared to:

Accept the Missions and Principles of Scouts Canada;
Work as a member of a team, in whatever role you accept;
Take training appropriate for your role;
Commit to the required time necessary to fulfill your role.

The process of becoming a volunteer includes:

Completing an application and providing three non-related references (one of which may be a current member of Scouting)
A personal interview with the local Group Commissioner and a Scouts Canada Service Scouter
Provision of a Police Records Check (City of Kingston residents may contact Kingston Police; otherwise, contact local OPP detachment)
Orientation to Scouting session with Group Commissioner and/or a Service Scouter
Completion of Basic Wood Badge I training within your first year of participating (includes evening and/or weekend workshops plus on-the-job training)

Training Opportunities in Voyageur Council

Upon completion of the Wood Badge I (Basic) course, the Leader will be recognized with the Wood Badge Woggle.
Upon completion of the Wood Badge II (Advanced) training requirements, the Leader will be recognized with the Gilwell Neckerchief, Wood Badge Beads and parchment.
