CAMP OSKENONTON

 

Description:  29 acres on the northeast shore of Buck Lake, 45 minutes north of Kingston, following Division Street North.  Large electrically heated lodge with complete kitchen.  Large dining/activity area.  Staff sleeping room.   Covered activity area adjoins lodge.  Six wooden tent platforms.  Large council fire circle.  Outdoor Chapel area.  Separate wilderness camping area.  Adjoins Rideau Trail - Buck Lake Loop.

Campsites: The Scout field is located on the north side of the property near a beaver pond and has a well, kybos, open activity area, flagpole, a few picnic tables and approximately twelve tenting sites.   There are six wooden tent platforms near lodge with a kybo. 
Buildings: Lodge contains a large dining area, kitchen, with stoves and refrigerators.  Staff quarters include sleeping area, flush toilet and shower as well as a nurse's station.  Wheelchair access via steep ramp; interior of lodge on different levels - dining area, kitchen and staff quarters on same level as ramped entrance; small washroom. 
Water: Drinking water in lodge available mid-May to mid-October.  Do not use plumbing when water is off.   Scout field pump has drinking water in season. 
Electricity: Yes.  Electric baseboard heating for winter activities.
Waterfront: Sandy beach on Buck Lake in front of lodge. 
Campfires: Please use established fire pits only / check with MNR for fire bans
Formal council campfire near lodge. 
Chapel: On top of hill overlooking beaver pond.  Memorial plaques, altar, flag stands, benches for 40 people.
